Ayurveda aimed in prevention and cure of physical and mental health. In Ayurveda, Dinacharya is one of the concept which helps to fulfill this aim of Ayurveda. Vitality enhancing technique which is incorporated in massage of the feet is called Padabhyanga. It is one of the prophylactic principles mentioned in Ayurvedic dinacharya. The hectic computerised life style, faulty food habits, stress and strain, irregular sleeping habits and negligence in following daily and seasonal regimen provoke many eye problems. By doing Padaabhyanga, Kharatwa, Stabdata, Rukshata, Shrama, Suptata of pada relieved and Bala, Sthairya improved, Drustiprasaadakara. It also prevents Grudrasi vaata, Pada sputana, Sirasnaayu sankocha. In the centre of the feet 2 Siras are situated which are directly connected to the eyes, these transmit the effect of the medicines applied over the feet in the form of massage. Hence every person should need make use of Padabhyanga. Major cause of blindness for prevalence are cataract, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, Age related macular degeneration, refractive errors. There by Paada Abhyanga through its Vaata-ameliorating action is responsible for better function of Chakshurindriya. According to Sushrutacharya, by practice of Snehana karma, which results in Utpatti of Pratyagradhatu – Navadhatu. such that degenerative changes related to eye are antagonized by the Snehana karma. Padaabhyanga is helpful in preventing above said diseases which causes the blindness. Hence this conceptual study is made to explain the mode of action and effect of Pada Abhyanga to increase and maintain the visual acuity

VASANTIKAVAMANA A PREVENTIVE MEASURE FOR KAPHAJA ROGAS

The aims and objective of Ayurveda is of two fold i.e., Prevention of disease in healthy individual and cure of the disease in a diseased person. To fulfil the first aim, our Acharyas have described Dinacharya, Rutucharya. In Dosha chaya, Prakopaavastha, if the person consumes more Apathyakaraahara, Vihara, Doshas will go in Prasaraadiavast has and leads to Vyadhi. Ayurveda emphasized to practise these therapies to eliminate the vitiated Dosha in accordance to the seasonal variation like Vamana in Vasantharutu, Virechana in Sharadrutu, Basti in Pravrutrutu, as a prevention of disease and promotion of health. Person who follows this regimen in each season never suffers from severe disorderAccording to Induteeka, thus neglected, the vitiated Dosha get accumulated over the time to its maximum, and the channels of rasa are being obstructed by the vitiated Dosha (deposition of debries in the inner layers making the lumen narrowed), nourishment to the tissues is not possible. This causes the diseases like Sthoulya, Agnisada, Kusta, Meha etc, which are not amenable for treatment. 4 Maasa (Rutudvaya) for Sanchaya of Kaphadosha, if it is not early evacuated in Chaitramaasa it end up in Rutujaan rogas. Hence, while maintaining health itself one must undergo purifactory measures to prevent from occurrence of the diseases by seasonal factors. Hence this conceptual study is made to explain the effect of Vasantikavamana a preventive measure for Kaphaja rogas.

Objective: The objective of the study was to investigate the effect of leptin analog and salbutamol in obese asthmatic mice. Methods: Obese asthmatic condition was induced by administration of hypercaloric diet for 8 weeks followed by ovalbumin-aluminum hydroxide. The animals were treated with leptin analog (0.4 mg/kg, i.p. for 14 days) and salbutamol (2 mg/kg, PO for 14 days). Biochemical parameters such as serum leptin, ghrelin, and tumor necrosis factor-α and physical parameters such as tidal volume and airflow rate were estimated to confirm the state of asthma and obesity, respectively. Results: Elevated serum leptin and ghrelin were associated with leptin resistance in obese asthmatic mice. It was found that a significant increase in serum leptin level with animal treated with leptin analog and salbutamol when compared to animals treated with leptin analog alone. The result of respiratory parameters and serum parameters also improved with the combination of leptin analog and salbutamol. From our study, we found that salbutamol potentiates the effect of leptin analog in obese asthmatic condition. Conclusion: Leptin analog and salbutamol are an alternative treatment approach to treat the obese asthmatic condition

CP Violation in a Multi-Higgs Doublet Model

We study CP violation in a multi-Higgs doublet model based on a S3×Z3S_3 \times Z_3 horizontal symmetry. We consider two mechanisms for CP violation in this model: a) CP violation due to complex Yukawa couplings; and b) CP violation due to scalar-pseudoscalar mixings. We find that the predictions for ϵ/ϵ\epsilon'/\epsilon, CP violation in B decays and the electric dipole moments of neutron and electron are different between these two mechanisms. These predictions are also dramatically different from the minimal Standard Model predictions.Comment: 17 pages + one figure, Revtex. Restricted Wiedemann-Franz law and vanishing thermoelectric power in one-dimensional conductors

In one-dimensional (1D) conductors with linear E-k dispersion (Dirac systems) intrabranch thermalization is favored by elastic electron-electron interaction in contrast to electron systems with a nonlinear (parabolic) dispersion. We show that under external electric fields or thermal gradients the carrier populations of different branches, treated as Fermi gases, have different temperatures as a consequence of self-consistent carrier-heat transport. Specifically, in the presence of elastic phonon scattering, the Wiedemann-Franz law is restricted to each branch with its specific temperature and is characterized by twice the Lorenz number. In addition thermoelectric power vanishes due to electron-hole symmetry, which is validated by experiment.Comment: 10 pages, 2 figure

The Dielectric Response of La0.5Ca0.5-xSrxMnO3 (0.1 <= x <= 0.4) Manganites with Different Magnetic Ground States

The dielectric behavior of half doped manganites La0.5Ca0.5-xSrxMnO3 (0.1 \leq \times \leq 0.4) with varying magnetic ground states has been studied. The real part of relative permittivity as a function of temperature {\epsilon}^'(T), exhibits a maximum around the ferromagnetic (TC) and charge ordering transition (TCO) temperatures accompanied with high dielectric losses. The activation energies obtained for x = 0.1 and 0.3 samples below TCO are the same ~ 0.12eV, whereas the relaxation time constant varies in the range 2.8 \times 10-9 s - 6.03 \times 10-11 s. In contrast to samples having x \leq 0.3, for x = 0.4 doping the dielectric permittivity exhibits a strong temperature dependence in the vicinity of magnetic phase transitions. This behavior may be correlated with the presence of competing magnetic interactions (magnetic polarons) close to the magnetic transitions.Comment: 14 pages, 5 figures, To appear in Journal of Applied Physic

Texture of fermion mass matrices in partially unified theories

    Get PDF
We investigate the texture of fermion mass matrices in theories with partial unification (for example SU(2)L×SU(2)R×SU(4)c SU(2)_L\times SU(2)_R\times SU(4)_c) at a scale 1012\sim 10^{12} GeV. Starting with the low energy values of the masses and the mixing angles, we find only two viable textures with atmost four texture zeros. One of these corresponds to a somewhat modified Fritzsch textures. A theoretical derivataion of these textures leads to new interesting relations among the masses and the mixing angles.Comment: 10 pages(Latex
